Alas, we have had some great culinary dishes through the month but it’s time to get to the final episode of Starch Madness. This week we combine two GrateTV favorites – Biscuits and Gravy and Pizza.
The inspiration for the recipe came to us in one of those “forehead slapping moments.” GrateTV viewer and longtime friend Phil Wingo from #porkmafia sent us an image of the dish from a roadside joint that he stopped at during his travels. It was a “WOW, why didn’t I think of that” moment.
The recipe and process are straight forward. You will need to gather a few simple ingredients. Pizza dough, white gravy, sausage, spices and some cheese.
Flour your peel, stretch out the dough, use white gravy or country gravy for the sauce. Top with your favorite breakfast sausage and some cheese and bake it on the grill. Delicious!

- Preheat the grill stone.
- Make sure you sprinkle flour or cornmeal on the pizza peel before you stretch out the dough. The flour acts like little ball bearings helping your finished product slide easily on to the stone.
- Try to use the same style dough every time you make pizza. The consistency will help you with grill temps and cooking time.
